Hooves 'n' Grooves Festival
The 5th Carlsberg Hooves 'n' Grooves Festival takes place July 10-13. As in 2002, Wexford will reverberate to the sound of pounding hooves, samba drums and great music. The Carlsberg Free Gig Trail will feature over 70 gigs right across the town, most of them free. The main acts this year are Jerry Fish And The Mudbug Club, Pierce Turner, Mary Coughlan, Bap Kennedy and up-and-coming Limerick band Woodstar. While there will only be one day's racing this year there will, for the first time in Wexford, be a Harness Racing event run over two days. A particular highlight of the weekend will be the Bui Bolg 10th anniversary parade on the Sunday. This will be followed by the Regatta in the Harbour. Keeping to the "carnival" theme, the festival will bring music on to the streets. There will be impromptu sessions and gigs on the town over the weekend including jazz/bluegrass music on The Quays on the Sunday to coincide with the parade and the regatta.
