Hooves 'n' Grooves Festival
The 7th Carlsberg Hooves 'n' Grooves Festival takes place July 6-10, 2005. The event is now firmly etched on Wexford’s Summer diary - not surprising really as it gives Wexford one of it’s busiest weekends of the Summer.
The format for the 2005 festival will be broadly similar to previous years. The Carlsberg Free Grooves Trail is as choc-a-bloc full of great acts as in previous years. While the headline acts have yet to be confirmed you can expect to see some old favorites back including Buffalo Gals, Noel Shine/Mary Greene, Loudest Whisper, Two Time Polka, Two Time Polka, New Deal String Band and Mad Cow String Band.
Bettyville Racecourse will once again be putting all it's resources into one big Friday evening race meet. On Saturday and Sunday the racecourse welcomes back the ancient sport of harness racing.
Sunday is the big day on the streets with an action packed programme planned. The Bui Bolg Street Carnival returns with loads of acrobatics, fire-eating, live music, and some rather large walk-about characters.
There is also the annual Festival Regatta in the harbour, an arts and crafts market and, as mentioned above, an afternoon of harness racing at the Racecourse. The Quays will have live music, face-painting and other activities throughout Sunday afternoon.
The Festival is supported by South East Radio, County Wexford Tourism, Talbot Hotel, Carlsberg, Wexford Racecourse, Wexford County Council, Wexford Borough Council, the Chamber of Industry & Commerce, and various local businesses.,
